You can also look at OmniOS, available at http://omnios.omniti.com. OmniOS provides a very traditional, minimal server environment capable of doing everything you've described above. In a vein similar to Joshua's disclosure, I should note that I proudly work for OmniTI, the company behind OmniOS. We have an IRC channel on freenode as well, #omnios, and several people are involved in some capacity in the illumos community. Please do try both OmniOS and SmartOS and see which one suits your needs. SmartOS aims to be a hypervisor, and does a stellar job no doubt due to the awesome people working on it.
