OmniOS is likely to be a better fit for your server-focused requirements than OpenIndiana. I'm running OmniOS in production; the systems running this listserv are running OmniOS. http://omnios.omniti.com/ At my day job, we're entirely SmartOS based (using Joyent's SmartDatacenter). Different methodology. Both have their place.
