I do not know. Can sphinx accept svg images and have them render in HTML and PDF? It would be a nice solution if it did. On the subject of the commands to be used can we please document the packages used in the README.txt and teach waf to check for the package and build the images when given a specific configure command line option? We do not rebuild the often and rarely replace them but it is important to be able to do this to make sure the tools we depend on have not changed. We should capture this stuff and not expect someone who trips over an issue to have to figure out what was used and how it was used.
