I would be against this. The patch is too large to land just before we cut 4.11. With the new waf build system we'll be moving to a more rapid release cycle I do not see a reason we cannot do this with 4.x. Once 4.11 is out we can quickly release 4.11.1. We will then branch, land this patch and call it 4.12 and cut a release with that and anything else we bump from 4.11.1. We're doing a lot of bumping which is OK as we're playing catch up. Eventually we'll get used to not moving every ticket to the next milestone but planning a few versions ahead. I'll create a 4.12 and 4.11.2 milestone after this email to hold any tickets for those version(s).
