Yes, the drvmgr is something similar, but appears to me a bit more
lightweight. The FreeBSD stuff is not easy to integrate, since it
requires linker command file support and requires a lot of basic
architecture specific support. I don't see that someone has time to do
this in the next couple of months/years. So I think that the drvmgr is a
good alternative, which is ready to use right now.
