No, you're on your own looking at code or wait until 3.0 is finalized.
It's going to change until we get into the betas.

Look at the MavenCli class as an example of embedded use. Or look at
M2Eclipse: http://svn.sonatype.org/m2eclipse/trunk/. Our primary goal
with 3.x is compatibility of the CLI between 2.x and 3.x. The
internals for embedding have changed a lot. There will be
documentation for embedders prior to the Maven 3.0 release. For the
moment you're reading the source.
