That's a great point. I think it really might make sense to remove the
preferences altogether as the number of pings per link limit and the
same hosts requirement can actually be worked around quite easily and
would make websites just fall back to the same bad behavior that we
currently have. Ensuring this feature works as expected would surely
drive adoption a lot better.
