It seems some hardware is THAT hard to boot other os. I had given up on several Dell Wyse Dx0D. I even tried installing Ubuntu, no go. I tried one more different USB stick and that time it just worked.

Sometimes I suspect incompatibilities between bios/memory media/bootloader, but this is a vague guess.
