I'm a tri-focal wearing octogenarian with vision/perception issues.
As I started out in days of Netscape Navigator I eventually ended using SeaMonkey, having over the years chosen settings that accommodate my needs.

As Firefox comes as default browser with Debian Linux, I use it as my backup browser when a website chokes on my default settings and/or SeaMonkey itself.

I have problems with its defaults for the vertical scroll-bar.

I asked on alt.comp.software.firefox.
I was told to modify about:config .
Suggested settings were:
   layout.testing.overlay-scrollbars.always-visible true
   widget.non-native-theme.win.scrollbar.use-system-size false
   widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.style 4
   widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.size.override 20

I had no qualms about the first.
But Firefox has a warning when you access about:config saying:
Proceed with Caution

Changing advanced configuration preferences can impact
Firefox performance or security.

Based on having decades in engineering support I paid attention.
I don't know the implications of "non-native-theme" and "win" above.
Asking for pointer to Firefox documentation I was told "Don't worry..."

Suggestions?
TIA
