I don't intend this to be a contest, Carl.  If the beginnings of a list
is needed, though, include the rest of my post.

It is apparent that the function depends on whether any particular app.
accesses what Colin labels as the cut-buffer.  My awareness of this
came from my extensive use of LyX, and the long known (but low grade)
issue that its users had with its inability to use exactly that
function.  As I mentioned earlier, that is now fixed, so it also seems
apparent that a working copy/paste is largely due to choice on the
programmer's part to make it functional (as long as it doesn't
interfere with the rest of the code).
