Huh? AFAIK/CT the copying happens automatically out of every app. I've had reason to try (except pdf's, images, and the like, of course). The pasting? I think it depends on the app. and how it accesses (or doesn't) the buffer used in that copy. I just surprised myself by copying from galeon and pasting into LyX directly with the middle button.
