Don't think a few people taking advantage of the system are a reflection
on the system as a whole.
For instance, here in the Washington, DC area, Catholic Charities is the
largest organization helping the poor and homeless. And this money
comes primarily from donations, not taxes. Churches may get some money
from local government for with specific causes like shelters or soup
kitchens, but if they do, it's not much. And they get no government
money for buildings, schools or other normal operating expenses.
