Hello Darren, perhaps the best install advice is to start with something less technical than Debian as your first *nix. I started with Debian and would not recommend that steep learning path to my friends. I would however, install it for them and walk away. Knoppix has a hard disk install script. Can't get any easier than that. The copy to h.d. and run from there option now ( look ma no c.d.) Lot's of people are choosing http://www.libranet.com/ This is a Debian product with hardware autodetection and newer software than Debian stable. My advice, read http://www.distrowatch.com/ to help select your 1ST debian based Linux, and get some physical on site help. Failing that: Get a knoppix c.d. and get it working on the target system, ( plan b ). Print the Debian install instructions for "Intel X86". Read that. Find the "Very verbose Debian installation walkthrough" just Google search for very verbose. Print that. Read that. Keep looking for someone to help. Repeat reading instructions and looking for help steps. Dan Hunt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
