Do a test: there's a package in the debian repository that will crack encrypted pdfs. Try it and see if your choice of password is strong against that. I haven't used windows since 3.1 so I don't know if you can get to a command line to run OpenSSL. If you can, just encrypt the email (text, pdf, whatever) with that using a shared password.
