I'm aware of the fact that I will have to reinstall my drivers when upgrading 
the
kernel. But my point was that I won't have to run that nvidia-installer again.

As the 9476 does not have a binary kernel module in debian repo the installation
process is a bit complicated. But in case of 'unstable' the installation process
is nothing more than selecting one package in synaptic (or writing one line in
the command line when using apt) and everything is installed automatically.
Of course - you don't get the latest drivers, but I think the situation isn't 
as bad.
