That was my point. Sometimes we with fast internet trivialize installing packages. It takes me all of 6 seconds to grab the headers, while my next-door neighbor takes an hour. I honestly think that doing a clean install is faster than trying to remove some things like that when only a slow internet is available (or none at all). But then you have to spend all the time customizing it again (unless you separate out some partitions and/or have backups you can restore). I suppose it all has to do with how much customizing one has done.
