Even if it is not, you can set it up to use anacron so that the next time you are on after a scheduled update, it will take the opportunity and update and let you know if there is anything to install.
I like it because you can configure it to update the package list and do nothing, to update the package list and download any pending updates but not install them, or to update, download and install all without intervention.
