Huh? I had no difficulty getting /proc/mounts to say it is mounting ext3.

mkinitrd is far as I understand will look into /etc/fstab to look for what
modules one wants to load. I would suggest that the user perhaps should
not load any deliberately in /etc/mkinitrd/modules....strange
