Sorry, hit reply to fast, my last mail was incomplete. I just did a mkinitrd to create a new initrd, changed my lilo.conf, ran lilo and rebooted, but nothing changed. The ext3 module is loaded but unused and /proc/mounts says /dev/root is mounted as ext2.
