yeah thats the problem i was having..cups builds fine but the driver doesn't ..driver depends on gimp which depends on gtk which probably has a lot of other dependencies. > For the package that gives the seg fault thing, try running > ldd <program name> - maybe it's missing a depend or maybe > potato is too old for it... > > Thus I would still suggest getting the sources from testing and > trying to compile using dpkg-buildpackage. I think this > might work and should give you best results... im trying it out on a woody system now ..so far no luck, recompiling the kernel, it says it can't open /dev/lp0 no such device..which is odd because my rio can talk on the parallel port(though i specify the port directly not a /dev device). so hopefully after thats done it will work. i can't echo stuff to the port either. so its probably(hoping!!!) its a kernel config issue even though i compiled parport and parport_pc as modules and inserted them ..still no luck. will try as static. i don't see a driver specifically for the c80 even on woody though, so im trying a generic gimp-print stylus color and see if it works, i don't need anything perfect just want to get color and decent quality(i dont print photos or anything) thanks nate
