Can we have an agreed content for the "debian team" in Maintainer/Uploader?
What I'm currently missing is the ability to say: this package isn't QA
maintained, but everybody is free to upload.
Maintainer: Debian <everyb...@debian.org>
Uploader: me and some others
Or ideally even without the Uploader field set, but currently that's a
policy violation.
Than this could become the opt-in way of saying this within the /debian
namespace.
I would love to set this on e.g. liferea and dbconfig-common.
It could point to a real mailing list
(debian-collab-ma...@lists.debian.org).
List-masters explicitly wrote that they don't want Debian lists to be in
these fields. And IMO they are right: the tracker alias is there for it.
I'm also not sure that using the 'debian' salsa group for that is the
best. This "Debian collab-maint team" would be a good opportunity to
welcome newcomers, but if they can't get commit access before they are
DDs, it makes it inconvienent for them to contribute. A dedicated team
would allow to give access to non-DDs with limited privileges (for
example using protected branches).
I'm not against it, I'm just against moving so many packages from one
namespace to another (and that, not only because I'll be doing the work
as Salsa admin...).
Note I'm kind of only nit-picking here, but mostly agree with you
globally, so take it the correct way please! :)
