Apologies for the last few mangled messages with bad attributions or character sets. Emacs 24 didn't like its header and body separator overridden (it thought my separator was a continuation line of a previous header), which caused subtle problems with mail sending until I figured out what was going on. It should be fixed now (although I'm having to get used to the ugly "--text follows this line--" marker again).
