If I understand you correctly the problem does *not* occure in Debian but only in Ubuntu? If yes, please decrease the bug severity to something like minor to not spoil the BTS. Even if the problem is not release critical because the package is not in testing it might distract people from relevant problems. I do not want to say that we should not care about this but problems that do not occure in Debian are not grave at all. BTW, the sequence debian/links entries should be totally irrelevant because it is resolved to independent "ln -s" calls which should simply work in any sequence. So far for the theory - I'd keen on learning new things from practice.
