No need to be sorry --- that's exactly the sort of information that is most useful. Grasping at straws: do you have the "prelink" package installed (I don't)? So so far there are two systems (see Message #49) that reproduced the problem and one that didn't. The machine architecture doesn't seem to be the relevant variable --- both you and I use amd64.
