You are right. Those who can actually read are clearly in a pole
position (ok, thats an awkward translation of a German proverb).

Yes, it should be optional. They are called "translation memory" and
maybe usefull to reduce future work (and it should be up to the translator to
keep them). In this case, however, they are mostly useless in the long
run, but for various reasons I'd like to keep them until the
translation is finished and then manually remove them.

Did so in my local copy (not yet checked in). I'll check it in next
