I am in the process of cleaning up, but do not have time for more. And also I do not use the other (you say, buggy) stuff, just gnus-pers. As you can see from Romain response, the current emacs-snapshot is tracking emacs24, so he does not want to add an emacs23 provide. The problem with depending only on emacsen is that old ones do not contain gnus at all, do not know what is the correct solution in this case. Probably providing gnus from emacs23 and emacs-snapshot?
