I stand corrected! I'm quite surprised that it works, I thought the runtime required a specific configuration flag that wasn't passed during build time. I'll investigate this some more and look at breaking the package out. Probably out of the scope of this bug, unless you want to retitle the bug to scope the breakout of the i386 runtime to a separate package.
