You wrote "If it's useful". Hits the nail, kind of. All, really all efi-reader does is reading some magic value out of the EFI tables and preseed the d-i language. Now, if you could tell me that there is /proc/efi/vars/Lang-8be4df61-93ca-11d2-aa0d-00e098032b8c present on x86 (according to the comment it's an id stolen from the ia64 arch-specific part of the kernel), fine.
