Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can afford the time right now, considering that 
it'll be uncertain to make it into Lenny. Would somebody else who is already 
familiar with the code in question be able to prepare the patch more quickly?

Are there any preliminary 2.0 packages available that I could test? I need a 
solution pretty soon, and installing the upstream binary distribution is not 
my favourite option. I'd rather install experimental packages (and maybe 
upgrade others) if available.
