Thanks for the detailed information. I have actually no clue exactly
but maybe upstream would...Andrew ?

You should anyway remove the commas, they definitely are annoying.

Two things, maybe, to look at more closely:

-the "valid users" line in [homes]
-trying from another machine (maybe this is an issue with the special
type of client you're using)

Following your suggestion I have removed ALL the commas, and the
problems remains.

I have tried another machine (also debian etch) using smb4k and it gives
the message:

"An error occurred when trying to mount the share

Details:

5065: Tree connect failed: Call returned zero bytes (EOF)

SMB connection failed"

The error message in "/var/log/samba/log.smbd" is exactly the same as
before.

Tried to remove the "valid users" line and nothing changes

Tried to access via a WindowsXP and the error is there, BUT I can see
the shares. The problem appears when trying to access any share as before.

Finally, could this be related to the router I'm using? I own a Linksys
wrt54gl and casually I have recently upgraded to the last firmware from
dd-wrt (Version DD-WRT 23 SP2)

Thank you for your help

Marcel
