Ok, at this point I am a little clueless. If you have a livecd like
Knoppix, ubuntu or grml boot it and try again to play midi files.
If that fails as well, I would suggeset your midi files are corrupt
or your soundcard has a "midi failure". If it doesn't fail it must
be a dissconfigured Sytem on your harddrive. But where?
