Could you please try the packages from http://www.lxtec.org/debarchiv/binary-i386/alsa-driver/

The packages are patched with the latest file off
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=952

If you want the debian way:

deb             http://www.lxtec.de/debarchiv   binary-powerpc/
deb             http://www.lxtec.de/debarchiv   binary-i386/
deb             http://www.lxtec.de/debarchiv   binary-all/
deb-src http://www.lxtec.de/debarchiv   sources/

in your sources.list,

$ apt-get update && apt-get linux-sound-base alsa-base

Please report any isuue.

I tried the Debian packages. After initial installation, playing a MIDI file with playmidi -a somefile.mid caused an immediate lock-up.

After a reboot, a MIDI file could be played, but there would be a full lock-up when there was significant disk activity both in single user mode and under KDE.

This was with linux-image-2.6.17-1-686 version 2.6.17-2.

I'm open to any other suggestions to try.

Arthur.
