Trimming my system down to a minimal list of font packages, I was able to reproduce the problem. Specifically, it occured as soon as /usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1 was present in the font path. Once I ran 'update-fonts-dir Type1' (as root), the Type1 fonts were found correctly again after an 'xset fp rehash'. I still do not understand why this command cured the problem, though. The above output indicates that XLoadQueryFont() failed on a font returned by XListFonts(), which is not supposed to happen. Maybe a cache file went inconsistent for some reason? On my system, gsfonts-x11 and xfonts-scalable seem to be the most likely culprits. Can you please confirm whether updating fonts.dir in the Type1 directory fixed the problem for you? If so, I'll forward this issue to the X maintainers. Regards, Daniel. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
