Ok. I was thinking in terms of your report being related to #825383: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=825383 > Had earlier tried various approaches from root prompt (after a sudo -i) > and from my regular account with and without sudo. I am barely familiar with sudo and its configuration so, TBH, I am not sure I understand what > ...and my account added to the sudo group to enable... does. However, hplip assumes the existence of a root account on a Debian installation (on Ubuntu it assumes a sudo account). What happens if you unadd it? Cheers, Brian.
