erich, after having read through the report, i'm wondering: would it be
feasible to place something like the script you provided in /usr/sbin
as something like mysqld.runit, leaving the rest of the init scripts
etc as they are? it seems like a pretty reasonable way to do this,
but i'm not familiar with runit so i may be missing something.
