No, as explained. udevd doesn't create the /dev/sr* device node. The /etc/init.d/udev init script does mount the devtmpfs file system, maybe you are confusing that with udevd creating the device node. That said, your initramfs should already mount devtmpfs. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
