as far as I understand the plugin works as expected. There were some changes by
upstream - I'd suggest you discuss your problems with them.

No, the call for the plugin by Filters/Map/Resynthesizer *) works
not as expected. As far as I can see it's a debian (and ubuntu)
based problem. It's (one of the) the plugins UI.

*) Sorry, it's Filters/Map not Filters/Render ...

Imagine a blue textured background with someting like a red cloud.
Now select the cloud an Filters/Map/Resynthesizer the image. The
red cloud should disapear, but it's swirled around and blurred. If
you use Filters/Enhance/Heal Selection the red cloud would dispear.

Make an empty image, fill it with any texture, take a pencil and
blot a big colored dot on it. Now select the dot plus a surrounding.
Try Filters/Map/Resynthesizer and Filters/Enhance/Heal Selection
and compare the results.

Filters/Map/Resynthesizer shows a few more options and tweaks like
Filters/Enhance/Heal Selection. Sometimes somebody needs some of
the options.

How to contact the upstream? How to localize the problem?

Cheers,

Beers? Yes! Lots of Beers! Cheers! ;-)
