I think they should either be seperated, or dropped out of the package. I think seperating them, but with a warning in the description that the ABI isn't stable would be boot. At least that means only when you want to play with them do you waste space on them. I really would rather not have header files and static libraries installed when I install quagga. I suppose I could patch the package locally and rebuild it to get rid of them, but that's pretty annoying to maintain. I don't think having them in the main package does anything to discourage linking against the libraries. > I would leave the bug report open but not as "serious", if nobody objects.
