+1, imagine a scenario:
You have 2 Kafka partitions, both with the same segment creation time:
- Partition 1 has only 5 new events since creation time
- Partition 2 has 10K new events since creation time
Here we're trying to capture 2 things:
- Age - for estimating how stale the data will be if the segment moves
- Number of offsets to catch up - for estimating how much work we'll need to
do to catch up when the segment moves.
