We have to plan branching rules for this, or is tagging the master our
way (+feature branches)? Whatever works for you.

Let's ask the maintainers: is there a problem with starting such
releases because of one or more apps (or important features) are
broken? E.g. Kexi is in pretty good shape, comparable to 2.3 series.
