What did you find confusing about Java?  The binary install is only four 
instructions.  After that you are pretty much at the same place that you 
were when you downloaded the binary from Oracle.

The OpenJDK instructions are long because the upstream designed 
distribution and build process are involved, but just following those 
instructions should get it built.
