Hi Tim,

I assume you are using vlc from a term, otherwise you would not see
those error messages ? I've never used subtitles, but I have a
number of medium-quality files which I packaged as mkv : ignoring
subtitles, are you getting apparent problems playing your mkv files ?

Actually, if any of my availables files do have subtitles, I've no
idea how to9 access those in vlc : any pointers ?

At this moment I haven't started my new builds with current LFS/BLFS
so I'm still on vlc-git and ffmpeg-3.0 on my newest build. I
expect to start a build soon, but it will be on an older machine
where the newest system is from June 2015 (/me is shocked I've let
it get so old) and I have to go through a lot of texlive stuff (even
a binary build :-( ) and then libreoffice before it gets near to vlc.

The problem with recommending extra packages is that we have to add
them to the book. Perhaps a comment like 'improves the display of
subtitles' for the libmatroska dep in vlc might suffice ?

Also, what is 'mpv' ? It sounds like it might be an abbreviation
for MPlayer ?
