I'm (at last) making progress with TeX Live. Managed to build a
_working_ xindy (unfortunately, it needs libsigsegv and clisp), and
now I've found a test example for biber online. So, I've updated my
test files, new version is tex-test-20140821.tar.gz at
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/~ken/tex-testfiles/ (hmm, it's only
20140820 on the server).

It _looks_ as if biber (distributed separately) needs a metric
shed-load of perl modules, none of which I have. I think this will
be a case for a CPAN build, although biber itself is not exactly a
regular perl module. Measuring that is going to be interesting.

Meanwhile, I've now found a SlackBuild which implies that the
binary TeX installer might not be needed! I have a nasty suspicion
that some things may turn out to be missing (apart from the
voluminous docs), but I'll give it a try. Not sure if this will be
ready for 7.6.

Sometimes she went to bed as early as 6 a.m.
