Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses. I didn't realize alert was used in other places, good to know it's not going away (other than the desktop client). This was the first time I's seen it used in an integration.

What you are talking about is having a program running on the Netcool object server that uses the Remedy API or a web service to listen for alerts.
