General observation: (labor in general) -- applies to siding your house, shoveling your driveway, painting a room, heck -- even software.
A project that takes 3x as long to implement makes 3x the dollars. Possibly more - since now you need to have higher mgmt overhead - cause of it's size. Also -- a system that needs to be implemented 2x -- because a new version came out in the middle of your implementation -- tends to make 2x dollars. When implementations take a long time -- weird stuff happens. (length of time of project) / (likelihood of success) == 1 Trust your gut - if it smells like fish - it probably is.
