I'm not a fan of liberal being used in a pejorative sense. I'm a centrist
and consider myself a small-l liberal, Google AI sums it up nicely:

"A "small-l liberal" (lowercase 'l') refers to a person who believes in
core liberal principles like individual rights, free speech, and limited
government intervention, without necessarily adhering to a specific party
(like a "Big L" Liberal Party) or all modern progressive/leftist ideas,
often focusing more on personal freedoms and market economics than
expansive social programs. It's a broader, often classical or centrist,
approach to liberalism emphasizing personal autonomy and responsible
governance."

The crazy lefties somehow stole this from us and the right ran with it.

It does get a bit tiresome banging one's head against a wall with
discussions about our dear leader though.

I also find it interesting that people who call themselves conservative get
very defensive when someone criticizes the current administration. This
administration's economic policies are quite lefty - government taking
shares in multiple companies, levying high taxes, etc.

This administration also loves to play this angle wherein the US is a
victim and being taken advantage of by our allies. We are the richest
country in the world and have benefitted massively from the post-WWII world
order. Now we're shitting on allies, to what end? Our national defense is a
collective effort, and were made safer and more prosperous through our
alliances. The administration now wants to increase defense spending to 1.5
trillion dollars (600 billion increase), presumably to help compensate for
the alliances we are fraying or outright destroying. This is pure hubris
and ignorance, and I'm disgusted by it.

This is also serving to make our national debt far worse, something both of
the political parties refuse to deal with, so they just keep kicking it
down the road. Difficult decisions need to be made soon before
circumstances make them for us.

None of this is even touching on the obvious moral bankruptcy of our
president, and many of the people working with him.

I'll stop ranting for now, but we need to come back to the center as a
country.
