If your Railway Concession Card is issued based on a concession
certificate, it will remain valid only as long as your concession
certificate is valid. Similarly, if it is issued based on your UDID, its
validity will be co-terminus with your UDID.
If your UDID is certified as permanent, you will receive a permanent
concession card. However, even permanent cards carry an expiry date,
often set for 90 or 99 years, as I recently experienced.
It is important to note that Railway Concession Cards are not renewed.
Once your card expires, you will be issued a new card with a different
number—similar to how banks issue new debit or credit cards upon expiry.
