The issue is: "Add support for windows substed-drives" The last comment in the issue tracker says: "Reading symlinks on Windows Vista and later implemented in r1501251 on trunk. So probably this issue also fixed." So it sounds like it's not fixed in 1.8, but possibly fixed in trunk (i.e. the future 1.9 version). I'm not sure if this bugfix is at all backportable to 1.8, or if you'll have to wait for 1.9. Maybe someone else can comment (otherwise: go ahead and ask the "can it be backported" question in the issue tracker).
