And that was the winning hint ..... I unfortunately forgot the authentication rule in the httpd.conf for the svn-proxy-sync location, just had it for the "normal" access of the slave repo.
Too stupid, I know. But tata, now it works :) Simply did not know that apache cuts out authentication details if it did anonymous access. Thanks a lot!!!
