To be frank, we have been unable to find a compelling reason to upgrade our
server from 1.5, though on the client end we use 1.6 versions. The unfortunate
thing is that the various improvements made since early 1.5 have almost never
said (in the release notes) whether they were on the client or on the server,
and we cannot justify the cost/risk of an upgrade without knowing more
specifics. My general sense is that there would be some improvements with
merging behavior, and memory leak fixes, but I don't know what all they would
be and we usually restart our server often enough to avoid serious leak issues.

Knowing that we'll get SOME number of bug fixes, and the new HTTP library, will
make the server upgrade to 1.7 worthwhile, though of course there will be an
obvious question of the server stability with 1.7.0. On the client end, I
expect we'll encourage people to upgrade within 1-3 months of 1.7, whether that
means 1.7.0 or later.
